Safe in Name Only
Some so-called "safety" needle devices are, in reality, just as dangerous as their conventional non-safety predecessors; in fact, some are even more so. Some of these ill-conceived "safety" devices actually increase the number of accidental needlestick injuries. They are safe in name only.
We have received reports that some clinicians, fearful of getting stuck, often intentionally don't activate the "safty" feature. That certainly shows how little faith those clinicians have in the "safety" features promoted by the industry leaders.
In contrast, Retractable Technologies' Vanishpoint® syringes virtually eliminate the possibility of accidental needlestick injury.
